Last weekend my boyfriend surprised me with a trip to San Diego and I had the most delicious blackberry sage spritzer at a restaurant in La Jolla! It was YUMazing and I realized that you don’t need to travel to get one of these fab cocktails. You can make it right at home. The blackberry sage spritzer is such a fun and unique signature cocktail to serve at all your summer parties! If you have an herb garden this will be super easy to make and if not, sage is readily available at any grocery store!
Heres what Ya Do:
Make a Sage Syrup
Equal parts water and sugar. I would do one cup of water and one cup of sugar! Bring water and sugar to a boil and add a handful of sage. Let the sugar water get infused with the sage flavor for about 15 minutes on simmer! Then, strain the sage out. This makes the base of your drink.
Make a Healthy Blackberry Juice
Take three big handfuls of blackberries and six cups of soda water for a big batch. Mash up the berries and let that sit for about an hour to make a healthy blackberry juice!
Blackberry Sage Spritzer
Now that you have your ingredients it’s time to mix it all up! You want to use one tablespoon of your sage syrup for every cup of blackberry juice! Add a shot of gin or vodka for a really good time! Or maybe two or three shots! Garnish the drink with a blackberry toothpick and a sprig of Sage for a professional touch. I also like to use mason jars as cups because they fit well with the earthy herb vibe of the drink!
