Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic

Who doesn’t want to dress up in a big, over the top hat and garden party dress while sipping champagne and watching hot ass polo players? NOBODY! That’s why I had to go to the infamous Vueve Clicquot Polo Classic in LA this past weekend.  Honestly, it was one of the most fun events I have been to, and yes, partly because our table had endless champagne but also because of how well run and executed the party was. I was lucky enough to be invited to the VIP area and everything was beyond FAB! Only in LA can you turn your head and spot Christina Hendricks,  Rachel Zoe, Anna Farris, Rosario Dawson, Allison Pill, Hannah Simone, Sanaa Lathan, not to mention the oh so Scandalous Tony Goldwyn, Scott Foley, and my favorite, Shark Tank’s Robert Herjavec, dressed to the nines and actually just enjoying themselves and the polo match like regular people.

You entered and immediately you were hit in the face with cuteness! Life size picture frames, rustic garden swings, men dressed up in orange suspenders and bow ties and of course champagne a flowin!

Veuve Clicquot Polo Picnic Tables

IMG_7843

When we found our table, our personal Vueve Clicquot boy waited on us all afternoon, bringing picnic baskets overflowing with gourmet treats and cold bubbly.

Like any good polo match, or so they say, we trotted out onto the field during the half time and ceremoniously performed the stomping of the divots.

Stomping of the Divots

Basically, you head out onto the field to fill in any “pot holes” in the lawn that have been kicked up from the horses. It was a nice little time to get up and mingle, but be careful of the hot cakes if ya know what I mean. After hours of watching or more like drinking, the amazing DJ, Tendaji Lathan, turned the last hour into an epic dance party. Classy of course, but perhaps some table dancing. Not by me of course!

As the last bottle was popped, I realized I was totally pooped and headed back home, only immediately to get my tickets for next year’s event. Please do yourself a favor and mark your calendars for next years Vueve Clicquot polo classic. It will be one of the most fun events of the year! Cheers to that!

Oxygen Bar at Le Jolie Medi Spa

Oxygen Bar

Oxygen Bar

The newest spa craze? Nope, it’s not a diamond facial but an oxygen bar! Yup, Le Jolie Medi Spa just opened in Studio City and is host to an Oxygen bar. What is this you might ask? Think flavored air! Peppermint. Lavender. Lemongrass. Breathing in this flavored air is supposed to give you a boost of energy by aerating your blood and help to counter fatigue and headaches. However, the process of inhaling this stuff is a bit weird. It looks as if you are in the hospital with plastic tubes going from the bubbling air to your nostrils. One thing is for sure, it is worth trying! Why not right?

Would you try flavored air?

Pingtung

Pingtung Shumai

Pingtung Shumai

Last weekend my friend introduced me to Pingtung restaurant on Melrose and I was blown away. It has a super eclectic menu with dishes from Japan, China, Thailand and Vietnam! Want a noodle dish? Got it! Want sushi? Got it! Want dim sum? Got that too! And, the prices are spot on for the young, broke and fabulous! The average price of the dishes is $7 and ranges from $4.95 to $11.95. Now, that is truly YUMazing!

The food at Pingtung is among the best in LA and what the restaurant holds that many others don’t, is a modern outdoor space. This is no stuffy Chinese restaurant or bare Thai eatery. The space is very open and the front room resembles a market place with authentic boxed and caned foods from Asia! Super cute!

Now, onto what to eat! Legit, everything is amazing and I suggest trying a few dishes that are out of the ordinary. Go with a big group and order about 3 dishes a person. Its almost like tapas style, especially if you are ordering a lot of dim sum. My favorite dim sum are the Pork and Shrimp Shumai, Crystal Shrimp Dumplings, Sticky Rice with Chinese Sausage in Lotus Leaf and the Gyoza! Uhhhh I am salivating just thinking about all these yummy dishes!

Any of the soups are YUMazing but try the Ramen first! Then, if you are into rice bowls, you must get the Salmon! It is grilled to perfection on a bed of shallots and has a fresh and layered flavor that is out of control!

Celebrity Wedding Hot Spots

Avril Lavigne Wedding Plans

Avril Lavigne Wedding Plans

Now that I freelance for US Weekly, I have become obsessed with their features. Of course, the celebrity party scene is what interests me the most. In a recent US Weekly article the magazine caught up with soon to be wed Avril Lavigne at the Nylon music issue celebration at the Highland Ballroom. Avril told US that the wedding location is quote “Out of Control” and that she wants her guests to be WOWed. As to where that location is? The star would not reveal.  She wants everyone to be surprised.

So where might this secret location be? Well, lets look at some of the most fabulous celebrity wedding hot spots! Up first is Church Estate Vineyards in Malibu California where celebrities such as Channing Tatum and Jena Dewan Tatum tied the knot overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean.

Malibu Vinyard Wedding

Church Estate Vinyards

San Ysidro Ranch is an intimate resort tucked into the Montecito California hills and was the location of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s secret wedding ceremony. It was just the two of them and Gwyneth was pregnant. Scandalous. And last but definitely not least, The Plaza in New York City has been host to many a celebrity wedding including Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas. So which venue would you like to get married at?

London Week

Clay Pigeon Shooting

Clay Pigeon Shooting

Yes, this week I am in London visiting my sister for her 30th birthday! Soooo fun and so exciting! This past weekend we traveled out to the country for a big bash at an estate called Cliff Barns. A lot of people rent this house for weddings, anniversaries and birthdays. It was the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway with a big group of people. The house itself was so amazing and decorated to the nine’s. Nothing was left undone. The attention to detail in design and utility was incredible. The house had an eclectic/glam hunting lodge feel to it and every hook and antique bathtub was perfectly placed.

Don’t worry, I took a bath everyday and sat by the fire reading as much as I could. Love a good fire. Oh yea, England is still cold right now..spring has NOT sprung. Thus, the need for baths and fires. Well, lets face it, there is always a need for baths and fires.

Cabana Bedroom

Anywho, a true highlight of the trip was clay pigeon shooting. Yup, you heard it. We went Downton Abby style and had someone come and teach us how to clap pigeon shoot. We all got dressed up in english tweed jackets and Hunter boots for a jolly old day of “hunting.” It was super fun, except for the torrential downpour in the middle. This is England after all! Between rain showers, we really had blast! Cliff Barns is a wonderful escape and event location if you are looking for something unique and special abroad!

A-Frame LA Restaurant

A-Frame LA Restaurant

Looking for a place to eat on Mother’s Day? Most of us go out to celebrate and it is always hard to lock down the perfect restaurant. Well, take my advice. Go to A-Frame LA. I went this past weekend with a group of friends and it was so fun and delicious. It is family style which is great for trying everything and exploring some dishes you might not get otherwise. Everything is unique and honestly mouthwatering good! I suggest getting Hawaiian style kettle corn, grilled octopus (called Octi-Pi LA, yeaaaa they are clever like that), twice baked potatoes, hoisin glazzed baby back ribs and the famous beer can chicken. For dessert, try the YUMazing pound cake churros!

Flywheel Opens in LA

Want to try something new this weekend? Well, good thing Flywheel opens in LA and is giving away the first ride FREEE! This is so perfect for all my budgeting divas who want to take a spin at Flywheel but might not want to pay for the regular classes. I must warn you, people get addicted quickly so be prepared to go back!  All my friends have been raving about Flywheel in NYC and go all the time. Finally the west coast can get some Flywheel love! This place is a bit different from the competition for a couple reasons. It is overall much more intense in the fact that you can sign up to be displayed on the “Torq Board” which is a flat screen that shows all of the classes top riders. You can also see your resistance, how many miles ridden ect on performance tracking devices on the bike. Flywheel really is about the workout more than anything else. The spinning class also comes with FREE shoes! Wahoo mama loves FREE! Check it out and let me know what you think?

RivaBella Restaurant Review

RivaBella

Everyone needs a good new stylish restaurant to gather big parties of friends and family and RivaBella is exactly the right place. Perfect for a girls night or birthday party! This hot new restaurant in West Hollywood is quite the scene, with famous celebrities frequenting the joint for some good ole’ Italian cooking. The indoor/outdoor design makes RivaBella feel open and whimsical. I absolutely love the Tuscan farmhouse feel and think the food is great!

photo1

I went to RivaBella recently and had the radicchio salad with crispy polenta croutons and gorgonzola dressing. YUMazing! Polenta croutons…um yes please! It had a wonderfully bold flavor and was very unique. As my main, I got the spinach pappardelle with lamb and mint ragu! This was really special and I highly recommend it! The mint mixed with the lamb created a fresh flavor in an otherwise heavy dish! If your feeling more on the meaty side, try the duck breast with lentils or their eggplant parmigiana or their Mozzarella/Tomato/Basil salad! Lets face it, it’s very hard to go wrong at RivaBella! Enjoy!

Events Photo Booth

Idol 1

Last night, I went to the American Idol finalists taping and after party with a friend and found the most amazing events photo booth company! Seriously, I have never looked so good! There was a guy operating the booth and legit positioning people for their best look.  I was a little weirded out at first because he was very particular and was positioning my face and telling me to lean in and yadda yadda. However, it was Sooooo worth it! Both my friend and I looked super fab and quickly became obsessed with HD Photo booth.

mirmir_0167

The events photo booth from HD Photo booth makes everyone look so amazing because they put each picture through a skin/exposure filter before printing them out and this makes people look younger and more radiant! The design of the booth is very minimalist and sleek! All the major studios in LA use them as well as festivals such as Coachella and Sundance! The next time you want to have a photo booth at a party, hire this one! People will rave!

Alfred Coffee Shop

Alfred Coffee Shop

The long anticipated opening of Alfred Coffee shop has arrived! This Melrose Place neighborhood spot fulfills all of our dreams. As one of the locals, I have been waiting for this boutique coffee shop and am glad to see that I am beyond impressed with its selection of  Stumptown coffee delectable pastries and homey decor! Everything you want in a coffee shop to call your own!

Eater LA- Elizabeth Daniels

I had the pleasure of meeting the owner who took me through his favorite selections, among them are the sour cherry and chocolate scones. YUMmazing! That will have to become a staple of my diet! Another must try item is the Stumptown iced coffee. Take it on the road with you with this bottled drink that is made by “cold brew,” not poured over ice and then watered down! You get the full caffeine affect!

Now, here comes the most exciting part for me! Obvi, I love throwing my DIY parties and so I asked if the owner would be open to allowing people to have parties in the space after hours and he is Down! Wahoo. It is a perfect atmosphere for a low key party, opening, comedy show, neighborhood music venue!

The Phoenix

The Phoenix has recently opened on La Cienega in Beverly Hills and is one of my new favorite places! It has a cabin/back woods feel mixed with city chic  to create a fun but relaxed atmosphere. The Phoenix has an array of craft beers and a steak frites that is to die for! The bar is also super easy to deal with when setting up parties and reserving areas.
